- Fails to induce sweating, add Ge Gen and Sheng Ma. If still no sweating, add Ma Huang.
- Pronounced chills and headache, add Qiang Huo, Fang Feng, and Jing Jie.
- Pronounced cold with abdominal pain, add Sheng Jiang and brown sugar.
- Pronounced fever with a sore and swollen throat, add Huang Qin, Zhi Zi, and Lian Qiao.
- Pronounced coughing and hoarseness, add Chan Tui, Jie Geng, and Niu Bang Zi.
