Cautions & Contraindications:
- Because this herb fiercely consumes the qi, it should be used with caution in those with qi xu.
Actions & Indications:
- Spreads the LV qi and breaks up stagnant qi: for constrained LV qi patterns with such symptoms as distention and pain in the chest, breast, or hypochondriac regions, or bulging disorder pain.
- Dissipates clumps and reduces stagnation: for food stagnation with accumulation which manifests as pain, distention, or a stifling sensation in the epigastrium. Often used for rather severe food stagnation, and for masses when stagnant qi progresses to blood stasis.
