Cautions & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in those with qi xu and no stagnation, or in those with yin xu and heat, or heat in the xue.

Actions & Indications:

  • Spreads and regulates LV qi: for constrained LV qi patterns with hypochondriac pain and epigastric distention, as well as disharmony btwn the LV and SP. The neutral quality of this herb, together with its ability to disperse and harmonize, account for its widespread use.
  • Regulates menstruation and alleviates pain: to facilitate the flow of LV qi in gynecological disorders with such signs as dysmenorrhea or irregular menstruation.
